WCMD - My Corner of the World

Image

Welcome to World Card Making Day at Flourishes 2013!  We thought it would be especially fun and fitting to extend a challenge that has to do with your corner of the Cardmaking World!

So, here goes:  Create something that represents or is inspired by your state or province.  We're leaving the interpretation up to you but you could be inspired by your state or province flower, your slogan, the scenery you'll find there, colors, or your state or provincial flag.   Then make sure you describe to us what the connection is!  Fun right?

My home is in Alberta, Canada.  A beautiful province that I love very much.  We have a great deal of diversity here, the magnificant Rocky Mountains, the open prairies and ranchlands dotted with animals, quiet lakes, large cities, and small towns, so there are many ways I could have gone, but I decided to be inspired by our provincial flower - the wild rose.

We have the perfect Flourishes set for it too, Garden Gate.  That spray of flowers is just what our Alberta Rose looks like.  I stamped the spray on Flourishes Classic White cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, then I carefully trimmed it out.  I could have used the Silhouette cut file we have for the design, but for some reason I felt like fussy cutting.   I coloured it up with Copics to match what the wild rose looks like with lighter white centers, with yellow stamens and the rich pink petals, as you can see from the photo below.  I popped it up on our Flourishes Perfectly Pierced Classic Window Die also in white and stamped the sentiment in Memento Lilac Posies ink.

The designer paper is MME Cambridge Court.  You might be able to tell that I also stamped the flower spray image in white ink on the pink paper to give it a toile effect.  Then it's a wee bit of lace, scoring with my Scor Bug and Scor Buddy Mini and some pretty enamel dots.

Here's the Copics I used.

Christine, this card is simply amazing. I love the yellows and whites and the pop of the pink for the roses.

You do live in extremely wonderful country. We drove through Alberta on our way back from The Yukon and Alaska. It's breathtaking. Good for you!!!
